Each purchase you make, it is a legitimate expense of your company, it may be tax deductible.

* This includes even the smallest purchases, such as pens and paper.
* Also includes larger purchases such as office buildings and cars belonging to the company.
* Understanding what business deductions allowed and track purchases made seemingly small, you could reduce taxes.

The Internal Revenue Code allows you to deduct all expenses “ordinary and necessary” to operate their business. These deductions vary from one business to another.

* According to SRI, any small business deduction to claim on your tax return has to be ordinary and necessary.
* The IRS interprets “ordinary and necessary” as reasonable (a routine strategy to generate business) and usual (the typical practice for their line of business).
* What does this mean for you the taxpayer? Depends on the business line that are in and business customs of their specific industry.
* The following example shows what the IRS would consider current and necessary:

Manuel has an auto repair shop in a small town. Try to deduct many business expenses from their taxes as possible. In preparing their taxes, Manuel said that income from its business in the first year are $ 22,000. Deduces all the ongoing costs of doing business (such as utilities, office supplies, advertising, transportation and telephone costs), and the cost of customer service. The deduction made by Manuel of the ongoing costs of doing business would be considered common and necessary. The IRS would probably agree that this deduction is not only necessary but also common for the line of business of the taxpayer.

With regard to customer care expenses, but Manuel believes that this was a necessary expense because it expects that the money has been spent on business lunches will be paid to potential customers in the long run by providing a customer base grateful and faithful, the SRI probably will not approve these deductions.

The derivation of customer service would not be considered common and necessary: The IRS would argue that the owners of auto repair shops do not usually invite potential customers to expensive lunches and dinners.

Before claiming deductions for small business, ask yourself two key questions:
* Do you want to make deductions are expenses necessary to carry out my business? In other words, how will help increase my business income?
* Do you want to make inferences are common in my line of business?

Consult your tax advisor to see if there are additional deductions you can use.
